Introducing ISE Digital: A New Approach to English Language Assessment

This session introduces ISE Digital, Trinity College London’s fully digital and adaptive English language exam.

ISE Digital offers a different approach to assessment. Instead of requiring schools to enter students for a fixed level, the test uses an initial levelling stage and adaptive delivery to identify each candidate’s actual CEFR level.

During the session, we will explain how the test works, what students are required to do across the four skills (Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing), and how the adaptive model ensures a more accurate and personalised result.

We will also look at the practical benefits for schools, including greater flexibility for mixed-ability groups, simpler administration, and an assessment model that reflects real-life communication and modern teaching practices.
