Online Session: 5 May 2026, 05:00 PM – 06:00 PM
Students today can scroll for hours — but struggle to speak for two minutes.
Attention is faster. Content is shorter. Expectations are shifting.
So what happens to English teaching in a world shaped by algorithms, reels, and instant feedback?
In this live conversation, Davide Patron — digital educator and one of the most followed voices in online English learning — joins Manuela Kelly Calzini, Senior Academic for English Language at Trinity College London, to explore a growing tension: the gap between how students live and how they are taught.
Drawing on real experiences inside and beyond the classroom, they unpack three key challenges — from the fear of speaking to the rise of fast, fragmented learning — and ask a critical question: are traditional approaches still enough?
Bringing together academic depth and the perspective of a new generation, this session does not offer easy answers, but opens an honest conversation about what may need to change.
For educators ready to question traditional methods, rethink engagement, and move from teaching English to enabling its real use.
